Dr. Amir Emami

At a young age, I was instilled with the values of the Midwest while growing up in Michigan. Also, at a young age, I knew I wanted to become a Doctor as the son of a Psychiatrist. I wish I could explain what drew me to this calling. Perhaps it was the science of the field that spoke to my curious nature. Or it may have been the chance to give back to society by caring for the frail and the weak. Whatever it may have been, I have no regrets entering a profession that demands long hours, lifelong learning, and nothing but the best from its members.

Early in my training, I learned that the medical field is the convergence point for a great number of factors including life, love, death, philosophy, religion, science, faith, politics, economics, and much more. Caring for patients is a fragile balance that requires a "whole-person approach" when seeking out disease and holding a patient's hand as I guide them back to health. My approach has earned me the nickname the "Doctor's Doctor" because many of my colleagues come to me or refer their family members to me when they require medical care.

Emami Primary Care is a medical practice years in the planning. Day in and day out, I have seen (and stressed) the importance of preventative medical care through annual physical examinations. Just as importantly, I have seen how balance is essential to who we are as humans. Even though it's easier said than done, we need to regain balance between the way we eat, sleep, exercise, work, meditate/pray, and much more. I have seen how no pill will ever take the place of a healthy lifestyle, and it is our responsibility to not attempt to seek one either.

I treat my patients starting with the following premises:

  1. The human body is perfect.
  2. The human body never lies.
  3. The more we deviate from nature, the more trouble we encounter.
  4. We must have balance in every aspect of our lives to live a healthy life.

I am saddened to see that our society is plagued with three of the biggest burdens most indicative of our time: Debt, drugs, and obesity. I am, however, encouraged to see people are speaking up about their lifestyles and realizing they work to live, not live to work.

Along with reading medical articles on a daily basis, I keep myself abreast of the latest news in diet and in exercise. I use my knowledge to empower my patients to live the happiest and healthiest lifestyles they can. To this end, as a lifetime athlete and as a former certified personal trainer, I integrate the latest advances in the medical field with lifestyle modifications to help my patients with their goals.

Should you decide to seek medical care at Emami Primary Care, you will see a few things that differ from other medical practices. First, you will notice a practice that is tailored for men. Secondly, you will notice that I will be focused on you with nothing more than your chart and a pen in my hand. At Emami Primary Care we keep computer use to a minimum to let you know the focus is on you. Finally, you will notice we have eliminated the complications brought upon us by health/medical insurance. I have said it before, and I'll say it again, "Quality health care does not need to be expensive." This is not my opinion, it is a fact supported by a number of studies. Although I have referenced these differences, they are certainly not the only ones you will notice.

If you are looking for health care of the highest quality, Emami Primary Care is the medical practice for you.
